Welcome
I'm Niklas, and this is the start of a new blog. Before diving into specific projects, a quick hello and a few words on why this blog exists.
Professionally I'm a software engineer, working remote for a fintech, and freelancing on the side with a focus on Python, web scraping, and API reverse engineering. So coding isn't just a job, it's also a hobby – in my free time I tinker with my own tools, automations, and whatever else piles up in a homelab. I am also a graphic design freelancer on the side.
Besides code, there are a few other things that keep me occupied and that will show up here regularly:
Home Automation – tinkering in Home Assistant and playing with ESPs.
3D printing – from the first calibration cube to my own designs that make everyday life in the homelab, or just at home, a bit more practical.
Whisky – tastings, discoveries, and maybe the occasional bad buy I'll write about honestly instead of sugarcoating it.
Music – vinyl, turntable tinkering, guitars, and whatever comes out of the speakers.
The plan for this blog: no bloated tutorials, no forced enthusiasm, just honest takes on what I'm building, testing, or drinking. Sometimes it'll get technical, sometimes it's about a new bottle, sometimes just a print that went wrong.
If you feel like following along – glad you're here. Next post coming soon.
